THE BIO

Ashley Wilburn is a native of Hagerstown in Maryland. She graduated from North Hagerstown High School where she received her secondary education. With a deep-rooted passion for family law, Ashley's present legal practice revolves around various aspects of family-related matters. She concentrates her practice on divorce cases, alimony disputes, marital property division child custody battles, and child support arrangements. She also handles post-divorce and enforcement matters such as step-parent adoptions and private party adoptions as and concerns regarding child welfare. In addition to family law, Ashley also handles estate planning issues, such as probate, wills, trusts and estate administration in addition to commercial, contract, and civil litigation cases. Ashley has been a court-appointed mediator since the year 2019. She helps parties resolve their disputes without the necessity of litigation or court involvement. Ashley mediates private matters and also court-appointed mediations for people who wish to avoid the court process and litigation.

After finishing her undergraduate studies at Loyola University of Maryland, where she earned dual bachelor's degrees in History and Political Science, Ashley pursued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. She graduated in 2013 and was ranked among the top 10 students of her class. During her time in law school, Ashley served as a Note Editor for the prestigious Western New England Law Review which showcased her dedication to legal research and scholarship.

Following the completion of her law degree, Ashley embarked on a clerkship program, working with distinguished jurists in Connecticut and Maryland. She was fortunate enough to serve as a law assistant to the Honorable Richard A. Robinson at the Connecticut Appellate Court and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott. Then, in 2014, she returned to her home town of Hagerstown to serve as a clerk for the Honorable M. Kenneth Long at the Washington County Circuit Court, further enhancing her knowledge of the local legal landscape. Learn more about Ashley Wilburn

Ashley joined Poole & Kane P.A. in 2015 as an associate attorney. As an associate attorney. Her main responsibilities was representing the Washington County Department of Social Services in cases concerning child welfare. Through her dedication, Ashley played a vital role in helping children who were victims of neglect or abuse at the from their parents or caregivers. Her commitment to social justice spanned far beyond the legal realm as she was active as a board member for the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force, working diligently to increase awareness of human trafficking in the tri-state area.

In 2017 she was a founding member at Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., and developed her expertise in family law, including custody, divorce and child maintenance, as well as guardianships and financial and estate planning, wills, trusts and powers of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxy – and mediation.
