Ashley Wilburn is a native of Hagerstown in Maryland. She graduated from North Hagerstown High School where she received her secondary education. With a passion for family law, Ashley's current legal practice focuses on various aspects of family law. She focuses her practice on divorce cases, alimony disputes, marital property division fights over child custody and child support arrangements. She also deals with the post-divorce and enforcement of issues such as step-parent adoptions and private party adoptions as and concerns regarding child welfare. In addition to family law, Ashley also handles estate planning matters, including trusts, wills, probate, and estate administration, as well as commercial contracts, civil litigation cases. Ashley has been a mediator appointed by the court since the year. She assists parties to resolve their disputes without the need for court or litigation involvement. Ashley mediates private cases as well as court-appointed mediation for individuals who want to stay clear of court processes and litigation.
After completing her undergraduate studies at Loyola University of Maryland, where she earned two Bachelor's degrees in History and Political Science, Ashley pursued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. In 2013, she graduated, and excelled academically, placing among the top 10 students in her class. During her time in law school, Ashley served as a Note Editor for the esteemed Western New England Law Review which showcased her dedication to legal scholarship and research.
Following the completion of her law degree, Ashley embarked on a clerkship journey, working for distinguished jurists in Connecticut and Maryland. She had the honor of being a law assistant for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott at the Connecticut Appellate Court. In 2014, she returned to Hagerstown, Maryland, to serve as a law clerk for the Honorable M. Kenneth Long, Washington County Circuit Court. Ashley joined Poole & Kane P.A. in 2015 as an associate attorney. as an associate attorney. Her main focus within the firm was to represent the Washington County Department of Social Services on cases which involved child welfare. Ashley's devoted efforts contributed greatly to helping children who were victims of neglect or abuse at the care of their parents or caregivers. Her commitment to tackling social injustice went beyond her legal profession as she served as an active member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force. She worked tirelessly to educate the public about human trafficking in the tri-state region.
In 2017, she became a founding member of Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., where she developed her practice in the areas of family law - divorce, child support, custody, and guardianships - as well as estate planning - wills, trusts and powers of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxies - and mediation.
Ashley started Wilburn Law Office, LLC 2023, with the aim of providing a personalized approach for every client's needs.
